Dab your paintbrush bristles with a bit of orange to capture the fiery sunset … or maybe blue for the sea. Chateau du Lumiere welcomes your inner artist—who has been tucked away in favor of “real world” obligations—to come out and play in East Hampton.

Located on nearly half an acre at the end of a cul-de-sac on the edge of a 23-acre nature preserve, this four-bedroom/3.5-bath East Hampton home is an artist’s and nature lover’s delight. Integrated into the renowned Springs art community, you’ll find encouragement to create while wandering through this town known for its art scene, or sitting in your own backyard where dappled sunlight and rare birds abound.

Spacious, light-filled, and recently renovated, Chateau du Lumiere also makes for a great family getaway. Before everyone wakes up, spend a few minutes writing in a journal or reading a book in the Great Room, complete with two gorgeous masonry fireplaces. Once the family starts to stir, revisit favorite family recipes using the wood-burning stove in the giant country kitchen, and serve hot blueberry muffins or biscuits and Grandma’s gravy at the oversized farm table. Let the kids loose in the finished basement while you retreat to the working art studio stocked with art supplies, papers, and an easel.

Ideal for outdoor entertaining, Chateau du Lumiere invites you to enjoy its generous and private backyard. Spill out across the two decks and brick patio decorated with tiki torches and string lighting, adding a magical ambience late into the evening. Savor a glass of wine as the kids splash in the heated pool and the smell of fresh vegetables on the grill fills the air.

In the evening, take your pick of rooms — one bedroom with a king-sized bed, one bedroom with a queen, one bedroom with a double and a crib, one bedroom with a sleep sofa, and a common area with two double beds — to settle in for a well-deserved night of rest. From the three-paneled picture window in the master suite to the open sky above, Chateau du Lumiere aims to inspire.

This house is incredible, it feels like you should have had your passport stamped to experience something like this. It's a peaceful place to rest and create amazing memories. It's like a french farm house, so tastefully done. It's not a question of if you should stay here, but for how long CAN you stay here!

This HAVEN is a hidden secret among the various beautiful villages on the South Fork. Artistically designed for the discerning vacationer. Just a short walk to the most coveted scenic water views that are only experienced by the most adventurous East Enders. You will likely purchase a home here after your stay. Enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the Hamptons. This is our secret ....Don't tell anyone.

My wife and I have stayed at Chateau du Lumiere on multiple occasions and it is such a peaceful retreat. We love the clean cozy decor, multiple fireplaces and vaulted ceilings in the living room and master bedroom. The master suite has huge windows. The light in the morning is fantastic and with the jacuzzi tub, it is an oasis of relaxation. We also loved the 2 decks and the pool. Theres plenty of space to have fun with the family or find a secluded spot to do some reading on your own. We also love cooking. The kitchen is nice and big, well equipped and grilling on the deck is a must. We have loved our stays at the Chateau and would highly recommend it as a home away from home in the Hamptons.

I have stayed in this house on numerous occasions and I love it. It’s exquisitely decorated and there’s plenty of room for families and friends. The pool is amazing and you are close to the beach and town. I love the privacy and the convenience. This is truly a home away from home. Actually, you might even consider changing zip codes.

I cannot say enough about what a wonderful weekend stay I had at the Chateau. The grounds are beautifully kept, the home is impeccably clean and well designed and it has all the comforts of a Hamptons' retreat--huge kitchen, fireplace, pool, a breakfast nook with lovely natural lighting, numerous bathrooms, bedrooms and easy access to the best beaches and towns in the area. It can comfortably hold a very large family or a group of friends with or without children. Each morning you'll enjoy stepping out onto the deck and hearing the wind blow softly through its well wooded lot. And the owners will do whatever they can to accommodate your requests and make your stay perfect. If you're looking for a mini-retreat or a week away from the bustle of the city--this is a dream.

Do you and your family need a break from the city? Yeah. Mine did too. This place was the perfect solution. Peace and quiet? check. Close to the beach? check. SWIMMING POOL? check. Happy kids? check. Cozy light-filled home with plenty of space to stretch out and have good times? double check. Can't wait to go back!

I went to Chateau Du Lumiere at the end of a long summer, I was exhausted, and I needed to rest. The house is quiet and serene. I met an old friend there, and we spent golden mornings on the deck, sipping fancy pour-overs and espresso (the kitchen has everything--an espresso maker and a Chemex). There were nice, clean linens in the front bedroom, where I slept, and a little vase of lilacs on my bed stand. Probably my favorite memory of the house is lounging on the sofa in the kitchen (!) after dinner, laughing over a bottle of wine. The beach is only a five minute drive, and I visited local horses nearby (the house also has the best inspiration for horse lovers). I can see making this an annual retreat.

What a refreshing and peaceful experience we had at this lovely home. Dinners outdoors, evenings on the deck or enjoying the pool. We especially loved the proximity to the beach where we enjoyed morning sunrise and evening sunset walks. This property is well equipped and yet serenely decorated. Positioned close enough to town to enjoy food and entertainment but nestled in a quiet block. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time at Chateau du Lumiere.

This house was immaculately kept, very spacious, private and beautiful. The large swimming pool really helps you cool down on those hot summer days. Highly recommend this property.

My family could not have had a more relaxing time at Chateau du Lumiere. The Whalen's have done such a great job creating a warm and clean environment that we all felt right at home. Actaully, it was better than home by a lot. My son spent the whole day outside while we cooked and dined on the back patio. Perfect family vacation. We had everything we needed during our stay and slept like kings. We will be returning for sure next time we head to the Hamptons.

This home is elegant inside and out. Everything we needed was efficiently provided. We found it to be perfect relaxing in the hammock in the beautiful yard or enjoying our family on the deck. Picnics at the nearby beach and kyack rentals down the road will make return again and again.

Twice I've had the privilege of spending a long weekend at this delightful house. It inspired such magical life long memories, I can't wait to return! The light, the space—both inside and out—is marvelous for a weekend escape, and even better for a summer long sojourn. All the charm of East Hampton/Springs is embodied in this special place. Entrust your vacation (if not your soul) to this venue—it will not disappoint.

My family had the privilege of staying at this amazing property last Spring, and it was the perfect getaway. We dined al fresco, enjoyed the pool, curled up on the comfy couches and watched family movies, and slept late in the beautiful bedrooms. This property is close to every wonderful thing The Hamptons have to offer. We toured wineries, shopped and spent time at the beach. The layout makes it perfect for groups because there are so many large spaces to be together, but also offers many private nooks to hideaway. Everything was spotless and beautifully appointed and booking was a breeze. 10 out of 10! We can't wait to go back.

We stayed 3 nights at CHATEAU DU LUMIERE for my birthday in February and loved every minute of it! We were able to relax and enjoy a brisk walk on the beach, which was only minutes away. Restaurants and stores were also very convenient. Being February, the fireplace in the bedroom was icing on the cake! The 2 fireplaces downstairs made the house super cozy! The large windows showered in morning light making you want to get up and enjoy that morning coffee! Highly recommended for romantic getaway, families, and couples. We are planning on going back in the warmer months to enjoy the pool and peaceful outdoors!
