Revel in the luxury of the Hamptons in this impressive architect-designed estate. Located south of the highway on Sagg Main Street in the heart of historic Sagaponack, the spacious House Behind the Hedges is perfect for a big family gathering. It’s minutes from the Atlantic beaches and the shops and restaurants of Sagaponack.
With nine bedrooms and eight full bathrooms, the house comfortably sleeps 16 people. The house features two master suites, each with a seating area and a large marble master bath with a shower, tub, and double vanity. The six guest bedrooms enjoy ensuite bathrooms with marble floors (two of the bedrooms share a bathroom). Each bathroom is stocked with two plush terry cloth robes.The pool house studio space has the ninth bedroom, a bathroom, a wood-burning fireplace in the living area, a full wet bar with fridge, and a large mahogany deck with an outdoor shower overlooking the pool. Perfect for a small family or staff to enjoy their own space away from the main house.
The house is richly decorated with beautiful art, comfortable furnishing, and wide plank white oak hardwood flooring throughout. Large windows in every room invite the natural light in to brighten the rooms. There are five wood-burning fireplaces throughout. It offers multiple common spaces, both indoor and outdoor, to gather, entertain, and relax. The home also has an extensive library and a wine cellar.
The fully-equipped chef’s kitchen features stainless steel appliances, a marble-topped island and mahogany countertops that offer plenty of space for food preparations. There is an informal dining area that seats eight and a formal dining room seats 10 with French doors looking out onto the yard. The house offers plenty of entertainment opportunities, with eight flat screen TVs throughout the house and studio, a fitness room, and a pool table.
In the backyard, the heated outdoor pool is surrounded by bluestone patios. The home features apple trees, a vegetable garden and a flower garden. Guests are invited to pick their own produce and cut flowers to enjoy inside the home! Enjoy the privacy of tall hedges surrounding the property with beautifully landscaped gardens and expansive yard.

Pet Policy: Pets may be allowed but are subject to owner's approval (please inquire). Pet approval may include additional fees and/or security deposit.
Cleaning Disclaimer: All reservations longer than one week must be professionally cleaned once per week, the cost of which is borne by the guest. For clarity purposes, the cost of in-stay cleanings are separate and above the fees collected at the time of booking.
Pool Disclaimer: Due to the climate of the northeastern U.S., outdoor pools and attached hot tubs will typically only be available for use from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If your booking falls outside of that time frame and you intend to use the pool/hot tub, please be sure to inquire if they will be available for use prior to booking.
Off-Season Disclaimer: It is typical that spring cleanings and updates do not take place until late April / early May. If your booking falls outside of Memorial Day to Labor Day, please inquire as to whether or not outdoor furniture and equipment will be available for use prior to booking.
Payment/Refund Policy: All payments are non-refundable, however, should the guest elect to cancel its reservation, Marquis will use best efforts to work with the owner of the property to reopen the dates of the reservation in attempt to re-book the property (please note the decision to reopen dates is the owners’). Should Marquis be successful in re-booking the property for the original dates at the same or higher price than the original reservation, a refund will be issued to the guest once payment is collected in full for the new reservation. If a new reservation is not made, the guest may use the property for the dates of its original reservation so long as payments have been made in accordance with the payment schedule established at the time of booking and Marquis is notified in writing 72 hours or more prior to the start of the reservation.
Security Deposit Disclaimer: Although rare, accidental damage does happen during a stay. In lieu of a security deposit, guests can rest easy knowing that this property is covered with up to $20,000 of "all risk" damage protection provided by Waivo. Coverage details are provided in the booking agreement.

Elizabeth J. 2 years agoWe had the most wonderful two week stay at House Behind the Hedges! The owner is the most gracious and attentive host and the house and grounds are spectacular. We wanted for nothing. The house was well stocked with luxurious Molton Brown bath products, gorgeous linens and towels, endless beautiful dishes and everything a cook could imagine in the wonderful chef’s kitchen. Everything was perfect. We had delicious salads everyday with fresh lettuce and vegetables from the garden. And Jim welcomed us with freshly cut flowers from the garden throughout the kitchen and family room when we arrived. We woke every morning to coffee on the lovely back porch followed by a short walk to the beach with our children and dogs. We simply could not have had a more perfect, beautiful and relaxing stay. The owner thought of everything and could not have been a more wonderful host. Thank you so much!
